Download The Princess Bride Movie for free. Here's another movie I just loved the first time I saw it, but it went downhill with subsequent viewing. That's not knocking the film overall, because it is entertaining. The dialog is funny throughout most of it and the scenery is beautiful. It's a nice-looking disc which enhances the interesting visuals.
The Spaniard, played by Mandy Patinkin, was the most interesting character, I thought, along with Wallace Shawn (the short, bald-headed guy. However, Inigo Montoya's" Patinkin) whole life was centered on revenge, a poor message to give all the kids who watched this film. Robin Wright made her film debut and looked extremely pretty.
Speaking of poor messages, I didn't think the cheap shot given the clergy-figure, dressed up like the Pope, was appropriate. Of course, being a Rob Reiner film, it's no surprise the extreme left-winger would put that in the film. At the ending credits, the reverend is sarcastically labeled "The Impressive Clergyman." Also, hearing young Fred Savage utter the Lord's name in vain was not necessary, even if it was in the book.
